No, played academy at Wakefield for years so is federation trained.
Dufty, Tai, Drinkwater, Musgrove, Vaughan, Kasiano and Fitzgibbon are the current 7 occupying Warringtons non-fed spots (once Musgrove has been announced).
Happy to be corrected by Abe, but I believe Saints have moved away from further talks with Kasiano.

| If we do keep Kasiano i'm hoping Burgess can calm him down from over playing, get him back to his top form.
When he plays to his form he can be a nightmare for opposition so he could be brilliant for us.
His offloading game followed up with Dufty could be devastating against teams.

| Story on Redvee is Kasiano won’t take a pay cut to go to them. Can’t we start one of them crowdfunding page things to make up the difference.

I'm not suprised given his performance at the weekend. I bet they're thinking they've dodged a bullet there.

We should kick one of the prima donnas out and retain Marty on a 3 year deal as he’s just the sort of guy we need instead of the over paid over hyped sorts

| I remember the days when Matty Russell was the ultimate symbol of TS favouritism and Steve Price was hailed as a genius for shoving him out the door when he first arrived.
I also remember when TS was hailed as a genius for shoving Martin Gleeson out the door when he first arrived.
Funny how times change.
Maybe in a few years time we'll even like Mike Cooper again.

Ha ha very good. McGuire coming back as Head of Inclusivity and Diversity.
In truth Russell was going through a mare in his private life and by his own admission was not playing or training well.
I must admit I have not noticed "The Gleeson affect" in the 3 wins from 8 we managed under Chambers. We have exhibited a lower win ratio than under Powell...

I think at the time they were both right to go and at the time they were both right to return.
I like Matty Russell and his efforts this year have been noticeable but let's be honest if we are serious at winning things he is a squad player at best, to me his is a worse version of Charnley makes decent meters, but without Charnleys ability to use his size in finishing. Russell looks a lot better under the high ball than he did.
I suppose it comes down to the rugby we want to play and for me it's utilise the pace in the back line in tired defences with strike on both sides. Russell for me doesn't give that he is great cover and will give you meters but for me that grunt work should be done in the forwards with wingers helping out. He was our second best meter maker against Saints and I know that the kicking skewed that a little and with Mikaele being out, but that is not what we should be aiming for.
For me it's great job Matty Russell this season but if we see as much of you next season something is off.

Pretty good summary. It was a good move to bring back Russell, I believe. Thewlis seems to take a lot of knocks and be less resilient to them than some players, so having decent quality cover was necessary. I really hope for the sake of Thewlis' career that his apparent vulnerability to knocks (more so than usual, I mean) doesn't become a long-term issue.

| Russell comes super cheap and is decent cover, as shown this year. Came with a point to prove, and certainly proved me wrong.
