| I wanted Powell to work as cas at times played very nice rugby, and you can say the team spirt he built there was a bug part of their sucess and something we feel our team has been lacking in recent years. However it was always a risk as getting a group of underperforming and very good rescued players performing above fan expectations is different to getting a team of good quality players performing to their peak abilities consistently.
This year was just so depressing watching us not be able to turn the season around after a few losses and get back to winning ways. Knowing its another year not winning a grand final after round 12 !!
The team and players have nowhere to hide they should shoulder thr same responsibility as Powell to for their performances on the pitch with some just plain and simply not good enough or not matching our expectations based on their performances at other clubs. Williams as an example we expect so much more from him not only because of his wages but his wigan and Canberra performances. I understand the difficulty of playingbbehinds poor pack however its those games we need our biggest players to stand up and they never seem to do that.
The young lads deserve better players around them to help develop them but also maintain good league performances. They have been a positive at time.
So glad this one is over do t thi k there's been as bad a season at the hj. How many games did we go into thinking we would win ?
I think next season depends on the signings and hop the players react to burgess as they have resisted dicipline and standards for years at the expense of 2/3 coaches some of them. If burgess is financially backed to get these players out as soon as he can then we will start to progress.
I see a lot of people say we lack creativity ? Yes but it's not really the issue we don't have structures that we can execute 9 times out of 10 to that works or forces great defence...let's get that first, moments Rugby is edge of the seat stuff but on its own it won't bring us sucess this is what I hope burgess can bring

| I can't complain with the process of appointing Powell. I wanted him to be our coach after Tony Smith and was pleased we brought him in. I thought a rebuild was long overdue so it was right to give him that brief.
2022 was obviously very turbulent and it was hard for Powell to keep the dressing room but that was necessary medicine, the key thing was to get a new set of players with the right attitude who would work in Powell's system.
The real killer was we brought in inferior players to the ones we moved out and they didn't even have any better attitudes so we got worse problems this year which made Powell's position untenable and makes it really hard now for us to rebuild the squad again with players under contract.
Perhaps Powell's best days as a coach were already behind him by the time we brought him in, or maybe we just really messed up the recruitment.
I'm not too optimistic about Sam Burgess and think we will go through more turmoil ahead. Looking at Burgess' recent history in the NRL he seems to be quite hot headed and I can see an explosion early on if he gets to Wire and finds a lot of players going through the motions. Whilst a lot of our fans will probably say, good, what they need is a coach who doesn't indulge them and will not be afraid to call them out, we could soon end up in another situation with a dressing room being resistant to the coach and Burgess has enough contacts in the NRL that he can easily say "stuff this I'm not wasting my time with these losers" sooner than we expect.
But time will tell.

| Quote Saddened!="Saddened!"Not like you duckie? One or two signings announced this week and hopefully you'll be back declaring invincibility and predicting an unbeaten season. You should improve dramatically next season as Burgess won't accept the low standards that are inherent across Warrington's activity at the moment. I think you'll see a real lift. The likes of Currie, Drinkwater, Dufty, Ratchford and Williams won't have anywhere to hide, or any protection. Fitzgibbon is a great signing as well.'"

| Just a really weird season all round, lost a lot of interest in League this year and took a 4 week break at one point. So for me this year has been bad all in all.
I'm happy to see what Burgess can bring to the team, and having Gleeson stay is a big plus for me.
Crowther staying is a great signing for us, if Musgrove does sign for us i'm very happy with that. Fitzgibbon looks to be exactly what we need on the right edge.
Interested to see how centre goes next year for us. King on the right with Tai, Wrench and Bruines fighting for the left edge and putting pressure on Kings place.
Hopefully Dudson does go to Widnes, but if he goes and Kasiano leaves, we'll need to bring in at least 1 more prop.
I'm not buzzing for next year but more interested to see how we go.

| Before the start of 2023 I was expecting to make the playoffs and maybe win one of the playoff games, with a clear indication we were building. Sadly that has not happened. If anything we have gone backwards from 2020.

| I will give it a 6/10
Could have been better…. Could have been worse.
We pretty much got what we deserved in the end… an early play off exit.

I think the perception of both the season and the state of the club in general was worsened by your start. Winning so many and having the meme worthy bucket hat selfies at Catalans and the incident at the King's Head set you up for a fall. Ultimately it was McGuire's unprofessionalism and the reaction from your players to that fallout that ruined your season. Had that not happened, Powell would likely still be at Warrington and you'd have finished top 3. It might still have led to an early playoff exit as there is something missing from this Warrington side mentally, but it wouldn't have caused so much hilarity for everyone watching.

| I remember watching the Salford game when you were in your good run, the one where you were well behind and then mounted a comeback to win. I remember thinking your defence was looking really poor and I don't think you'll go far in knockout rugby when the business end comes to, but I thought your attack looked really good and you made good yardage consistently and showed some real tenacity to get yourself back into the game and I thought you'd likely finish top 4 and get to the semi and be a real tough beat.
No idea what happened, but you seemed to lose everything that you were doing well, particularly in attitude and application. I guess the hope is that this was all down to the camp splitting and not wanting to play for Powell any more, and it won't be an issue next year. With that being true and hopefully not having to deal with any Mikaele or Maguire situations, I think you'll be much more solid next year. The good (or well, bad) thing about super league is it doesn't actually take a huge amount of improvement to start competing as the league isn't great across the board. A few little improvements and top 4 is easily achievable.

| Didn’t deserve a play off spot, certainly didn’t deserve a seat at the big boy table next week. The standard of the competition masks how bad a year it actually was.
Miserable 2 year period that exposes the club’s soft centre, which runs from top to bottom, boardroom to terrace.
While we had never been closer to winning it in 2011 (I know we have progressed further, but that year was our chance and we blew it on an over eager charge down), I feel we’re back to the level of Cullen’s days. That’s the standard of the team, atmosphere in the ground and everything in between. Great pretenders.
I’m Smith’s number 1 fan, but the repercussions of the decision not to replace Briers, Hodgson, Monaghan, King, Morley, Carvell, Waterhouse with sufficient experience are still being felt today.
Burgess needs to be in the country in the next few weeks and get the blueprint for a complete attitude overhaul underway, and to start the process of making the pack functional. It’s been a complete non-starter this year. We can’t have wholesale personnel changes again, we need the coaches to coach. Burgess, King, Marshall and Gleeson have enough experience between them to make a competent coaching network, we have world class facilities and a few (potentially) excellent players in key positions (Dufty, Williams, Vaughan, Ashton, Currie, Fitzgibbon) but they need to be prepared better than they were for the last 2 years, motivated and engaged. It’s time for the coaches and S&C staff to get this rabble into shape.

| Relieved it's all over, we were poor after we met Wigan and Saints the first time round in the regular season, and looked clueless as to how to beat them. SL is now a joyless game, and NRL is so far in front of it in terms of skill and speed of their game. The observed 10 meters at the play the ball makes it flow so much better than our game.
DP has been a disaster as head coach, and it's going to take some time to turn round. I expected that we'd finish between 7th and 4th, so on that note I'm not disappointed, however it's a 4/10 for me, as we never looked that we had the ability of beating Wigan or Saints whether it mattered, or not, and never looked like contenders to win the GF.

Definitely gone backwards from 2020, and that was a time when we were in peak frustration with Steve Price.
Another counterfactual to use as comparison is how would these last 6 years have gone if we had just kept Tony Smith in charge, like Arsenal did dragging out Arsene Wenger for so long. By the end of 2017 even TS had acknowledged it was time to part ways but if we had kept Smith would the results over the last 6 years have been that different?
