| Hard to say why it hasn't worked out, but the fact rhat one of Powell's most loyal, first choice generals couldn't rally to his mentors rallying cry is a pretty damning assessment of the season, and Powell's abilities.
I knew it would go pear shaped when he blubbed in his last Cas game, the snowflake.

| This rumour seems to be gathering pace. I can only assume that we have a half back on hold but need to move someone on to fund it.
I don’t dislike Holmes, although I don’t rate him. If we need to offload someone, I do hope it is him. If it was a Currie, Walker, Thewlis, Philbin etc that made way I fear we may live to regret it. From what I’ve seen of Holmes, I don’t see much in terms of quality right now and no scope for improvement/return to a previous good form.

| If I have seen Holmes for the last time in a Warrington shirt I will be a VERY happy man. An atrocious player and going off his social media a bellend of a bloke as well.

Moe, you’ve walked into that classic line by Sir Alec Guinness in Star Wars.

Is that 'who's the greater fool, the fool, or the one that followed him?

Holmes didn’t want to leave Cas and would have preferred to stay and work under a new coach as like the rest of the Cas team his relationship with Powell had degenerated.
The offer Wire tabled as his age was too good to turn down even if he was reluctant to work under Powell again.
You don’t go from being one of the toughest players in the league to the version of him you saw last year for no reason.
If he dies leave I’m sure he will find his way back to somewhere near his best.

The first thought in my mind when there was a rumour of OH moving on, was Joe Westerman.
Rejuvenated after leaving.

Seems like absolute cobblers to me, why would Warrington table a large offer for someone known to be at loggerheads with the new incoming coach?? Powell clearly brought Holmes along with Matautia and Minikin and insisted on playing Holmes despite his woeful form - hardly the actions of a coach at odds with that player?
Plus I'm not keen on him as a player but that seems a little harsh

Fair enough believe what you want.
Powell isn’t a coach that gets close to his players or wants to be mates with them generally it’s not his style. See the way he went about his first conversations with the players which caused the Cooper rift and issues around that.
If they are performing as Ollie was at Cas he was an obvious signing to toughen up what is clearly a powder puff pack.
Maybe the offer was too good and he has lost his edge. He certainly wasn’t expecting an offer like he got to join Warrington which was one he couldn’t turn down even if it meant following Powell.
