Quote: jools "Regardless of what the fans think of Powell and what’s going on there. The players maybe aren’t playing for Powell, we don’t know whether that’s the case- but what’s clear is that the players aren’t playing for you the fans either, and why would they!
Compare that to Wakefield who are in a dire position, with a poor coach very much out of his depth, and it’s clear that those players - many of them in key positions it appears are leaving that club at the end of the season, are very much playing for the fans.'"
With all due respect you can't compare these clubs in terms of fans expectations.
Wakey play in a ground that looks like downtown Baghdad, with a bang average team (Bar 2 diamonds) on a budget of about 68p and no hope of finishing above mid table at best every year.
Wire however play and train in state of the art facilities, we are bank rolled by two multi-millionaires with a team (on paper at least) that some clubs can only dream of. We are littered with internationals and marquee names who until recently, were not expected to finish outside the top 4 at the bare minimum.
So you see, Wakey fans are happy to accept mediocrity and spend every season waiting for those or or two "big" wins, because that's as good as it gets. Wire fans however (or the ones with any sense at least), demand more from the players and the club because when you have a team with the names and talent like we do, and the amount of money and investment that's been pumped into the club; plus the recent history of success with the LLS and the Challenge cup. That's where the bar should be set.
And if the players cant handle criticism and frustration from the fans after only winning 4 games from the last 19, then they aren't in the right job. 8th time this season I think it is we've blown a 2 score lead in the last 15 minutes. You can't put any blame on the fans here. The fans on the whole have stuck with the lads all season but this last month has been the straw that's broken even the most staunchest "Real fans" back. Enough is enough.
