| If you're supporting Powell, and are maybe even part of that band of happy clappers, you're part of the problem this club has in accepting mediocrity. Powell has to go now, Fitzpatrick with him, and bring in Nathan Brown or Michael Maguire before we get relegated.

| I've had enough of these Powell is the " second coming of the Wire Messiah, ", you can't argue with a zealot. Common sense doesn't count, just the repeat of the mantra, in Powell we trust.

Yay. Happy clappers and accepting mediocrity in one post. This true fan bingo is good fun.

Even Shaun Wayne, at the beginning of the season on Sky, said it was a tough job Warrington. With so many great players ready and willing to put the effort in, why would Shaun Wayne say this I wonder? Why didn't he say something like, 'it's a good club with good players and an exciting position for a new coach to take up'?'"
I wonder about this too. Barrie McDermott said the same. Their pre-season comments about Warrington were along the lines of "I'm not sure about Warrington this year...I think Daryl has a very big job on his hands there" which seemed surprising for a squad that was usually in the playoffs. It sounded like word was going round the circuit that there were more problems than we had realised.

| Quote bewareshadows="bewareshadows"The issue with Powell is that he's 5-7 years too late.
He's come in and turned everything over without the foresight to see that it would blow out his squad and his entire season.
Compare this to Nathan Brown rebuilding Huddersfield or Saints. How many did he clear out in his first season.
Or Justin Holbrook taking over from Cunningham mid-season.
No clear outs just taking what was there and improving it, whereas Powell seems to have spat his dummy out like he does following a loss and thrown the blame everywhere but himself.
Where Warrington great in the last 3 years? No.
Are they improved this year ? No.
Who managed this wrecking ball approach ? Powell.
Do other successful coaches do this? No'"
Good points. I've been following the Arsene Wenger documentaries/podcasts and its interesting to see his approach when he first came to the UK. He transformed a culture from booze and pies into a highly professional European style of fitness and nutrition, with a group of players who were definitely sceptical early on. He didn't take the wrecking ball approach he brought them with him. Where there were some players who just weren't on board with the programme (Paul Merson, John Hartson) he didn't bomb them out of the club, he just quietly waited for an opportunity to move them on.
Engineering conflict is unlikely to end well.

I saw it a different way to be honest. There is no love lost between the two of them, I read it as Wayne's questioning of Powell's coaching ability, not that the players were the problem.
If Wayne was questioning the ability of the players why would he have so many of them in his England squad last year and this?
However, we probably will never find out.

We've had 2 nice guy coaches in Price and Smith and the board thought perhaps that a different approach may work. Shaun Wayne was touted on here; I can't imagine he would take any crap, it's my way or the highway with him apparently.

Exactly this. He knew they were talented players and he thought he could get tune out of them despite the same players being responsible for round 1 knockouts at Warrington.
I'm really grateful to you here because this highlights perfectly the attiude of our players who think it's acceptable to put half d efforts in at our club, yet will raise their game when it suits them and they think its more important.

| Can somebody smarter than me tell me about the defensive structure this year? We're shipping points like nobody's business. This many points can't all be down to individual errors, surely?
What's the deal, are we going man for man, have we got less emphasis on the wrestle and more on impact, thus creating a fast ptb against us? Is Powel a fan on a tighter middle and thus there are spaces on the edges.
Has there been a philosophy switch that's notable because I'm scratching my noggin?

Lack of effort mainly. See saints game.
