| You let one of the best props in super go in the form of Hill. He is head and shoulders above what you have now( Cooper aside). Powell made a massive mistake in letting him go, bringing with him Holmes, Minikin and the other guy. Good props are hard to find as Powell has found out, wish Hill would have signed for Leigh, I'm sure we would have given him a 3 year contract.

Come on Cat let's name those "wet lettuces" and the "hindsight henry's" and what about the "mighty moaners" whilst you are at it.

Actually let me rephrase something I said, you're only as good as your last mistake.
That more accurately reflects the opinions of some in the fanbase.

I thought the general concensus was that Hill wanted a longer contract than we were prepared to give. So not a case of "letting him go". Everything that starts, has to end some time.

Likewise with King plenty of ppl crying about the possibility of letting 'home grown successes' leave, I cant recall anyone referring to him as world class but was deffo one of the best attacking (when used right) centres in the league, he was also one of the best defensive centres in the league as well, generally his reads are pretty good.
But, you're only as good as your last game currently.'"

| I’ve no issue with anyone leaving.
So long as they’ve planned for the vacancy.

I was one of those who had been a critic of Hill in his last years as captain but then last year I started to come back round on him and was very opposed to us letting him go.
Although my criticism of Hill wasn't that he was a bad player, just that he had gone through an inverse Lee Briers journey, where he started his Wire career as the seasoned pro, top 2 or 3 at his position in SL, and then as time went on he transformed more into the raw talent with potential but tendency to let himself get distracted. It was probably because he was feeling the mounting frustration that most of us fans had felt over the way things had gone in recent seasons and that was how it came out. Certainly you couldn't question his commitment.
I think the Hill of 2017 to 2021 was not the same force as the Hill of 2012 to 2016 but he was still one of the better props in SL.

100% agree with this, I view his career with us exactly the same way. The captaincy was a mistake, he was a leader without the armband and the armband seemed to make him think his role in the team had changed and it just hadn't.
I wanted him to stay for this season but as someone has mentioned all things come to an end at some point and we simply need to have the flexibility in the cap to allow for the future in his position. That said if we don't sign a proper replacement prop at the end of the season I will be furious we didn't offer the 2 year contract, we simply need to recruit very, very well in the front row at the end of this season or there is no justification for letting him go.

| I think I saw an interview with Hill where he basically said he felt it was time to move on so maybe it was always going to be tough to keep him and he needed a change of scenery which is fair enough. I think in terms of longevity and overall contribution he is the number 1 Warrington front rower of my time following Wire, ahead of Morley, Carvell, Wood, Cooper and Nutley.

| Hill would be first name on my team sheet for every game. What you see is what you get ,rarely injured ,consistent & fully committed to doing his best for his employer. Hill has been a shining light amid the antipodean dead wood that has drifted the way of the Wire in recent seasons & will be hard to replace .
