I want thewlis wrench dean etc to get more game time, but I also want better quality players around them. Which is why the next windo if signings is important in balancing where the money is spent.

Yep even Hill was out of favour. Too many "hindsight henry's" about. Very useful to go back and check on comments made a year ago.

Yes. A few were relaxed about King going lost in the furore of posts who habitually over rate our players as "world class".

I’m not too sure that's correct and I'm not going to trawl back but I think criticism of Hill were on the wane.

Agreed, once Hill had the captaincy responsibility removed, he could concentrate on his own game and was in great form.

My guess is that quite a few wanted Hill for one year was OK but two was a risk. Having seen players who suddenly drop off or get injured as they age I was going that way. I suppose it all depends on money ... which we never get to hear about. I have been wrong before ... many times.

The general consensus was hill was better overall without the captaincy, however there was still the odd wet lettuce complaining if he gave a penalty away. Though for 3 years prior plenty questioning why he was still here.

Likewise with King plenty of ppl crying about the possibility of letting 'home grown successes' leave, I cant recall anyone referring to him as world class but was deffo one of the best attacking (when used right) centres in the league, he was also one of the best defensive centres in the league as well, generally his reads are pretty good.


But, you're only as good as your last game currently.

You let one of the best props in super go in the form of Hill. He is head and shoulders above what you have now( Cooper aside). Powell made a massive mistake in letting him go, bringing with him Holmes, Minikin and the other guy. Good props are hard to find as Powell has found out, wish Hill would have signed for Leigh, I'm sure we would have given him a 3 year contract.
