| What a shame, heard the RL had gone downhill, didn’t realise what else had gone on. Was a cracking club, shame @dallas no need to be quite so judgemental.

| I heard that the RL team had basically been scrapped and it's now just football?
I played a few times for Rylands 10 odd years ago and always enjoyed everything about the club.
I don't know much to be honest but heard something random that Wayne Rooney bought the club and made it just football, no idea how true that actually is though?
I miss playing rugby so much but at my age i think i'd get killed playing again ![Sad icon_sad.gif](images/smilies//icon_sad.gif) These "kids" are massive nowadays ha ha ha

And you'll rise high today,

Rooney's agent, Paul Stretford, owns the club now. Even naming the bar after himself and one of the new stands on football pitch after his father.
Like I said previously, he came in a few years ago and basically forced all other sports and existing members out of the club.
Stretford sees himself as a small time Abramovich at non league level - they have been poaching players from higher divisions, by waving more cash under player's noses and generally making noises that are above their present level. I suspect his initial aim is to become the number one football club in the town above Warrington Town.
Hopefully, he fails.

Yep, 100% this. Hopefully it all fails and quickly.

Not at all, hope they get beat 10-0 and go bust for the way they dealt with the rugby team.

| Back end of the 70's early 80's Paul Stretford played soccer in the midfield for Rylands, the midfield was M Murphy, K Murphy, M Murphy ( not a typo ) and Stretford.
