What fantastic expansionist vision our sport has shown by selecting LEIGH
as the NEW 12th team in SL.
After Toronto its Leigh !!! Wow..
All we need now is for Leigh to announce they're bringing back Alex Murphy as
Player coach !!
I understand we have to look after the grass roots of the game,
But dear me.. This is stepping back 40 years.
What on earth can Leigh bring by way of expansion and growth ?

They can bring us a 12 team league that has a good chance of finishing next season as a 12 team league.

Unnecessarily negative this IMO. This is unprecedented and it really isn't the time for expansion given current circumstances. Realistically expansion to Toronto and then circumstances that nobody could really forsee are what led us to this point in the first place, don't get me wrong it's a real shame that Toronto didn't work out. It was always extremely ambitious and the timing has proved to be hugely unfortunate. We ideally need the league expanding to 14 with toulouse and another but that's not going to happen without a better TV deal otherwise we will see a talent drain to NRL and union.

If we had 11 domestic teams and Catalans then we would probably have had a 12 team competition right through this last season as well.

Im all for spreading the game but why are they so intent on creating little islands outside of the heartlands like Wrexham, London, gateshead. Why not expand gradually, places like Stoke, Crewe, Preston and when it's done create junior teams, send down the coaches and see if a club can be born nurtured which can then be pushed forward and maybe produce players who develop capability to play in superleague. They may even create new fans of the sport who come and watch some superleague games.

There's a global pandemic. Travel is restricted for lord knows how long. Expand in the year no-one can travel..........the whole reason Toronto folded!

Exactly it’s a safe bet and makes sense given the current climate. Leigh was always my preference tbh with Toulouse/Bradford potential candidates. Although they will probably need at least another 4/5 signings to avoid finishing bottom based upon the squad they have at the moment.

The only viable option. Longer term Toulouse look a good bet for promotion and hopefully London but right now it has to be Leigh. They have a decent ground and support and I reckon they will be competitive.

There must have been a reason for reducing from 14 to 12 teams back in 2015?

At least Leigh always bring a good crowd with them.

We've hardly seen him.

Full of effort with a lot to learn. Seems strange that Warrington are loaning him out for the year when he would have had one of the best centres that have played the game to give him the benefit of his vast experience.
He will give it his all and maybe a year of SL rugby with Leigh will give the proper test he needs.
