| We've been here before with Tony Smith a few years ago.
The relevant question is who is available to take over and do we have a credible sense that they are the right appointment.
If its just a case of, "oh we don't know, but we'll advertise the job and someone will apply and we'll see what happens" then you're not necessarily going to be any better off.
Maybe if you're facing relegation and the coach has a toxic relationship with the players you may as well just play the coach lottery but when you're one of the top sides (but not quite THE top side) you need to have a compelling candidate available that you can see will take you to the next level.
When we were having this same discussion back in 2017 the big complaints were:
- fed up of being the 'nearly' side that won cups here and there but couldn't win the Grand Final
- poor recruitment in recent years
- one-dimensional, predictable rugby
- young players being chopped and changed in the squad
- stuck in a losing spiral, we'd had about half a year of relegation form
So on which of those measures are we in a better place as a result of playing the coach lottery?

| I think this thread is drifting towards the one we experienced just prior to TS's departure. Perhaps I can make a few suggestions;
If you are going to make a point, please back it up with reasons and facts. Simply saying "X is rubbish" doesn't encourage any sort of civilised debate and will wind up anyone who holds the opposite view. Wires 1967 earlier in this thread made a well reasoned post and is a good example to all of us.
You will find some posters simply have to have the last word because they know they are correct (my wife for instance). So if you have made a well thought out point, why not just ignore the reply that you know is coming. Sometimes silence speaks louder than words.
Avoid making the same or very similar point across multiple threads. This is 'derailing' and will certainly wind up plenty of people who want to get on and discuss the original thread topic.
Avoid abuse. This is a big no no in the AUP and you are risking a ban. Abuse can also be suggested or implied by those with an inventive mind, but if the moderators interpret it as such, there will still be a ban.
I am now going to lock this thread. Anybody is very welcome to start a new Price thread and in doing so perhaps we can make a fresh start.
