| Quote Captain Hook="Captain Hook"I have just watched the highlights on the Super League show. I think the assessment of Huddersfield's tries is over generous, 2 clearly came off the back of Warrington mistakes, and over critical of us as some of our tries were well crafted. The lead up work being where the "good stuff" was done.
Am I the only one thinking that if anyone other than Dec P had kicked the ball for Goodwin's try, which was pinpoint accurate, there would have been rather more praise for it?'"
I dont think I was being overgenerous I thought their halves looked a better combination than ours. They showed some slick handling and they could create a line break for one of their players at least.
and I've never heard of either half back, although the number 7 Ive seen a few times and he looks quite a good find, in the mould of Michael Dobson in my own opinion.
on Dec Patton, when listing the tries I did wonder if anyone would give him credit for two on the money kicks..........It took 4 pages

Their halves, really? I wasn't at the game sunday, but from what ive seen on sky, the game earlier this year and reports and journos on Twitter, they reckon frawley is bloody awful, and far far from a replacement for brough.

| This has intrigued me a bit, we're all guilty of a bit of knee jerking, the saints game hit us all hard and then doubly so with the salford perfomance however as i say the OP has intrigued me, so lets have a look at the highlights going back to the start of the season

9 tries.
1, austin busts two tacklers from about 10 metres out.
2,10 metres or so out, in front of the sticks , long pass to patton, short pass to austin round the back, kr defence s it and gets pulled in ball ends up in linehams hands who goes in at the corner.
3, within their 20, pass from DH om the right to patton, who grubbers towards the posts, Philbin is 1 of 3 chasers who are on the scene to pick up and force his way over.
4,austin breaks a tackle again on the 40 down the right hand side, occupies the fullback and passes to the winger who goes over in the corner,.
5, ptb on the 40, ball is passed to Patton goes near(ish) the line, outside defenders have pushed up anticipating ball to BMM and theres a short pass to goodwin who goes through the line and steps the fullback.
6, ptb witiin their 20 near the sticks, intelligent pass to Philbin who is running the angle to behind the ptb, KR defence were all going to our left following patton and ball players.
7, Clarke runs from dh on halfway, tackle isnt completed on the 40, he offloads to other clark, who tips to austin, to B&M to hughes(pulling defenders in) who goes upfield, ties up defenders and a backdoor offload to toby, in at the corner.
8,linehams 90 metre intercept.
9, davis 20 put runs from dummy half, pulls in defenders and passes to sita who bursts the line, and gets up avoiding a woeful attempt by the fullback to stop him.
I think its fair to say our forwards were fairly dominant on this day,kr obviously arent much cop

| Hands down the most unnecessary thread in memory.
We scored 8 tries which, as scoring 8 tries often does, involved a certain culpability from the opposition.
Hudds scored 3 tries, and, wonder of wonders, included errors by us along the way..... THAT... folks, is professional sport.
Unless Pricey posts here, the number of relevant SL coaches' opinions on this board will number south of one. We are better placed to win the GF this year, than Wigan were last, .... rejoice and enjoy the trip on Friday.
(those that care enough to go..)

2 tries
1, 10m out austin does a show and go through the line then busts a tackle from the fb to score.
2, hughes offloads late in the tackle 15m out, defence is retreating, clarke to austin who runs at thr line pulling in centre and winger and a fast pass to lineham to go in at the corner.
Forwards were pretty mullered in this match.

So everything is hunkydory for you and our attack is running like a well oiled machine?

| Im with the op on this. Our attack is slow and predictable. We did post a few tries in the end. Hudds were poor. We will have to improve greatly to threaten saints.
P.s patton is e !

| Threads like this always remind me of a Wires fan stood next to me in the Fletcher end one year, during Phil Blake's first spell with us.
Blake collected the ball on halfway, chipped the defence, regathered, accelarated away, lost a boot, and went round the full back with ease to score.
Aforementioned fan rolled his eyes and said "Pfft. Thats all he can do though, score tries".
Next time Blake Austin breaks through with similar grandeur, someone tell him to sidestep a few more players on his way to the tryline, avoid forwards (nutmegging them doesn't count) and maybe perform a little sing-song en route, just to make it look more convincing.

| I never knew that Phil Blake could have played for England or Gt Britain.
He was born in the London area.

I think we're 9 points behind Saints. How is their attack?
