| Quote Rocky Bobby="Rocky Bobby"Its rather hard to tell from that footage, don't you think? He was legitimately allowed to tackle Tomkins. Yes, it was a full on hit, but when isn't it in rugby league??? Nowt to do with our lots logic. I was sat just in front of where the tackle happened. I don't believe it was malicious. But Christ, he wasn't about to let Tomkins get up and carry on yomping up field.
Wish your lot all the best this year BTW. McGuire is older than a Conker tree but he's still classy.'"
He's justified in making the tackle. He's reckless though. It looks like h e goes across the back of his head with his elbow as his knees seem to miss.
The logic i refer to is some of the comments justifying Tomkins being hurt.
Good luck to y ou. Hill is the best prop in the league.

| I was also sat level with the incident and couldn't see anything wrong from the view from the opposite direction from the camera. Tompkins was initially stopped, but wasn't tackled and Austin dove on to him to complete the tackle. I didn't see any problem. Strange how it was initially being described on here by the opposition as Tompkins being kneed in the head.

| His knees were nowhere near, and as for it being an elbow I can’t see it in that clip. Like others have said I saw it as legitimate tackle at the time as the tackle was not completed,in the hands of the buffoons at RFL now.

If that is true then Austin should serve as long as Tomkins is out.

| Quote Fantastic Mr Cat="Fantastic Mr Cat"You must have watched a different version to me, because the one I've seen McGuire is playing on till Jack Hughes picks the loose ball up, then starts moaning at the ref.
There's bugger all in it, it was an accident.
And I'm Joel knows the difference between accidents and intentionally hurting an opposition player.'"
WTF were you watching McGuire goes mad as soon as Austin makes contact. There's a better view on twitter. The prick gets him with his knee. If reports are true about Tomkins injury Austin should be looking at months banned. It's no innocent flop. Rovers were clearly getting the better of the game and another attack had broke down Austin has got frustrated and reckless.

| The version i have just watched looks like mild contact as ,expected in any game, with the ribs. Are we sure Joel didn't fracture his skull at some other point in the game ?

| Quote rubber duckie="rubber duckie"When some one runs the ball in about twice and makes 1-2 twice then is replaced...albeit not his doing...I'd day that was disappointing.
Yes I did go but if you saw it differently I'm open to read your version of events rather than you just ridicule and say nothing. Why bother to post anything?'"
Tasi was replaced because he had a severe cut. Requiring 16-18 stitches.

| Theres contact with the head, so I expect a a review and an over inflated ban due to the media, Sheens, faux outrage from fans etc. but that’s par for the course when someone gets injured.
For me it’s silly, a bit over aggressive and a sin bin is about right to manage the game.
The alarming thing from watching the reply is that Patton completely bottles it from either catching the pass or at minimum getting in the way of Tomkins. He steps to the side, I assume in self preservation. It’s poor.

| I was in the S/E corner so couldn't tell but a play on the NN/W side had a clear view...'Austin flopped on him, leading with his elbow into the nape of the head to neck area'.

The video on Sky Sports is clear enough to see Austins knees are no where near the tackle. Looked to me like Tomkins head hits the ground rather than any limb causing a possible fracture. Rugby players know they are at risk of these kinds of injuries but because of all the fuss coming from KR and the media unfortunately he will get a ban.
