I understand the point you are making but you are comparing, in the main, a pre-money Warrington in a decrepit stadium with a cashed up Warrington in the new era.


If indeed the Smith of 2012-17 is the best coach we have had in 30 years that only serves to highlight how miserable it has been for Warrington fans over the years.

TS was indeed the best coach in the last how ever many years, and most on here recognise that.

Some, like me, acknowledge that but believe that we should have replaced him earlier as it was time for a fresh start and with the amount the club have invested we didn’t get the same return as those clubs investing less but winning more.

It’s not that we don’t appreciate Smith it’s just that clubs like Wigan, Saints and Leeds wouldn’t have persevered so long with one coach. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to demand better from what is clearly the club with the most resources. TS was fantastic, but his time came and went and life DOES exist after him. Price came here with a poor record and had to quickly assemble a team from scratch, but has still managed to get us competing fairly quickly. He may or may not win us a trophy but change was defintiely needed.

Look at Leeds. McDermott is the most successful coach in SL but he's had two poor seasons in three, yet on the back of a GF last year, he's out the door.
