I'd suggest we are not underperforming and are actually performing to somewhere close to our potential.
Without wishing to sound like a broken record, the fact is that our recruitment as been very average in the last few years. The accumulation of those years has slowly built to our present mediocre state.. if you seriously think randomly sacking coaches until we miraculously solve this ingrained problem then you havent the foggiest...

If he didn't win again before the split I bet he would be gone and Henderson in. Cast your mind back to Steve Anderson - how many games did get?
I think it would be fair to judge Steve towards the end of this season. If he has not improved us in that time it's likely he won't. Until then I'm right behind him.

Steve Anderson was given free rein on recruitment and basically put together a whole new squad, which showed absolutely zero quality or potential for improvement in the time he had with them.
Price is still pretty much having to deal with somebody else's mess and it could be argued that they have improved slightly on where we were in September - whereas Anderson was without doubt going backwards very quickly.

| This stuff about inheriting a mess doesn't stand up.
In 2016, we won the league leaders' shield and made two major finals. We started 2017 on Betfair as the favourites to win the Grand Final. The debate at the start of 2017 was not "we have a weak squad" but was whether we needed a new coach to start us winning, rather than losing Grand Final.
Last year we had a bad season, but the squad that we started this season with was still strong enough that a lot of people on here thought we should be top 4 minimum.
if you want to know what inheriting a mess is like, ask Daryl Powell. He took over a team left at the bottom of the table, and because the club was in deep financial mess he was forced to sell his best player (Chase) and best young player (Clark).

| So finishing outside the top 8, regularly being bummed, spending a huge wedge on a half back who most consider well past his not-that-great best and having most observers acknowledge we have one of the worst backlines in the league isn't a mess?
I'd like to see what folk consider actually a pretty poor position then?
