| Was this Barrow thing realistic?
Briers was already the most consistent halfback in SL by 2009.
This idea that he was some kind of lost soul wasting his talent until TS came around and turned him in to a great is a nice story but we'd had 8 years of constant demands for him to be in the GB team, coaches being bagged out for ignoring him because the general consensus was Briers was the only player with the spark that could hurt the Aussies.
Yes he was erratic in his early days but by the time TS came, although Warrington as a team were inconsistent we had 3 players who did the business every week: Briers, Paul Wood and Westwood.
Briers going to Saints, Wigan or Hull maybe but Barrow nah. Bit like how Cunningham was supposedly going to Rochdale Hornets when Hanley was at Saints.
I don't know how Briers can be compared to Sandow. If Sandow had managed 17 seasons at one club, stayed fit nearly all the time, led them to three major trophies and been their all time top point scorer he would have a different reputation.

I would add Adrian Morley, LAnderson, VAnderson, Gleeson and Hicks to that list too.
Monaghan and King were still "settling".

| Yes mate. Briers was a hairs breath off clearing his locker. It did come down to LB begging TS for a reprieve.
.....your memory of LB Sally always mind boggles me.
No deny his talent but one good game or the odd good thing in a game followed by twice ot thrice that of poor games doesn't spell consistency to me.

He was in his way to Barrow. Contracts drawn up...then LB weeped to TS he didn't want to leave...TS told him what had to go for him to stay...LB did the rest.'"
I wonder if Briers has maintained his resurrected professional state now he has stopped playing.

Based on last season I’d have to say No, people need to remember he was part of the TS, Agar coaching team aswell. Now before anyone as a go I don’t know how much if any influence he had on the coaching of the team, but if he only dealt with the halves well they didn’t learn much.
