| ...and players like Ablett, JJB, Wilkin, Farrell would be criticised every week if they played for us, but they do the grunt for GF winners whilst the ones in my previous post control the game and the tempo.

| Quote morrisseyisawire="morrisseyisawire"Absolutely spot on. Even teams as good as the great Kangaroo teams don't always play well, but champion teams they know how to dig in, have a stubborn refusal to accept the seemingly inevitable and can never be discounted.

See my quiet contemplation thread.
This is why we were off the pace come October, even when we were St our peak under Smith.
We need an attitude like those teams

| How do you get the attitude? We had Smith who did it for Leeds after decades of failing to be champions and we had Briers, Morley, Hodgson.

Too nice. The ones I listed are grubs as well as grunts. See Ablett winding Gale up tonight and half our team on several occasions.

I wouldn't use Saints as a role model for being on the pace come October. They've lost 5 out of their last 6 Grand Finals.

| Leeds don't win trophies because they have players that wind up others. Why did they release Ryan Bailey?

| "Got to lose one to win one".
Even with Hardaker, wouldn't have been guaranteed, Leeds have this stuff in their DNA.

I think you've answered your own question there, TANCW
We are TOO NICE. We DO need to be a bit nastier, rather than be too obliging. After all, this is Rugby League, and not Strictly Come Dancing.
We have a side (bar a geriatric Westwood) that has all the menace of getting a telling off from Alan Bennett. We are a team of "bloody nice blokes". The type you wouldn't mind your sister getting married to. Unless you're from Burtonwood, of course, where you're already married to your sister

| It wasn't only Hardaker that was missing for Cas tonight, I reckon the only one who turned up was the guy playing in his position, Eden.
Gale did a great impression of the invisible man!
I hate Danny Maguire, but he was excellent tonight and ran the game from start to finish
