After the first half I'll take it. We aren't going to crack the top 4 barring some miracle so every point counts in staying in the top 8 now. We're sitting in safety. Unfortunately your statement is very true.

I will defend Smith in most instances against a lot of the daft stuff that gets spouted, but if Penny is fit and he persists with Russell on the wing I'll be cashing in my Smith Forever badge before you can say 'pay Barba as much as he wants'.

And I accept that Brown was a purchase borne of desperation, and we are not blessed with alternatives at the minute (I include Patton in that assessment), but if he's close to being our starting half next year we can write 2018 off already.
