I know this is a tired old rumour at this point, but I heard from a pie that we have paid a record fee for Williams and he will be on £300k a year. Not looking to debate this, I know a lot of users on here are a bit sensitive about rumours. Just passing on what I heard.

In terms of an existing player, I am not sure any would be considered for 'marquee player' unless they were getting a good offer elsewhere and we wanted to keep them. I'd make an exception for Hill, as he has propped (if you'll pardon the pun) the team up for a long time.

Unless we have official confirmation from the club we can't know whether he is a marquee or not.

If Sandow was listed as £175k on the cap, we could have signed Brown for £125k (say) and still have enough left in our cap to increase Clarks salary from £100k / year to £150k / year for example and still not have him on marquee allowance.

A club doesn't need to release info on who is marquee to us. So we can speculate all we like. All good fun. Either way... Clark and perhaps Westerman have been the only two players to warrent even consideration for the marquee pot this season.
The rest but Lineham haven't earned tuppence IMO.

Just seems to me that Sandow's late exit has hit us harder than perhaps first thought in that we have lost a marquee player of high skill and ability, as demonstrated last season before his injury, and didn't have time to replace his skills and ability.

Then did we decide to re-distribute part of the Sandow salary around some of the existing , already highest paid players, in an effort to mitigate Sandows loss, and look to these better paid players to take things on.

If so , has it alienated the rest of the squad , resulting in the "lumber in't mill"

We turned down a £300k+ offer from you lot this offseason for Williams.

I don't know if Lenagan has the resolve to do that again.

There'll be a revolt if he's sold though.

There's always been the rumour that Williams is going to South Sydney.
He would earn a fortune there, not that your offer of £300k salary isn't a fortune.
