I don't have my tongue in my cheek. Yeah last Friday was a bit embarrassing but what is it in the big picture?just one game in the season, that's all. The end to the game at HKR away was the same and people weren't banging on about that all week after. If we'd not ed up the end to that game we wouldn't have even needed a point against Wigan last friday as we'd already have won the LLS (which doesn't really mean much anyway).
I was sick for months after losing the 2013 GF and I've actually not felt the same about the sport since to be honest. I won't until we lift that trophy with the big 'S' on it. That was a total heart breaker, a proper sickener.
Last Friday wasn't, it wasn't anywhere near that!
We could have won last Friday - but with Currie and Westwood out, both halfbacks unfit, no wingers, a lack of pace and power in our props and a full back who turns up one week then may as well not have bothered turning up the week after (damning for the rest of the competition that a team with those shortcomings could have been in with a shout for all three trophies this season!) - and not won the GF and last Friday would have meant absolutely nowt! I would still not be happy because of 2013 because we haven't won the big one. Hubcap in the cabinet [meaning very little] or not.
Same goes for this week. If we win at Hull but don't lift the Super League trophy I will not particularly care a jot that we won the league ladder.
What last Friday could have done, like I say, is hit home with the board and made them think on about a few players/coaches/the coach. That could end up being a good thing.
