Quote: matthew "I think he lacks good technique and that means he comes off worst in attack. No late footwork and head high in collision and very little "stickability" in the tackle. He often seems to drive himself off the tackle after impact by pushing away from the tackled player rather than into him,
Both these mean much energy little effect and he gets banjoed often
If hes coachable and cheap - keep
Otherwise he could be a monster at lower level'"
tbh, i know where mark is coming from, which is why i replied to him.
During our period on tv earlier this year, when we were all falling in love with his runs and crazy ass behaviour, i had noticed that in league express they show the stats for the games, and i was surprised that in his periods on the pitch, maybe 20/15 minutes either side of half time, he was only clocking up 4/5 tackles at a time. Now i know he's not a defensive prop but you would expect someone playing middle of the field unless the opposition had nearly 0 possession should be doing more than that. Also you'd expect him to be a spot defender as well since he's historically not a good defender and he's all gangly n .
It does seem that his odd weird run has masked his lack of tackles, his lack of defensive ability and also the point that very often on these runs he does get knocked silly, of the two i've been more impressed with bailey for overall output and he's probably been better value for money.
I'm still gutted for Bevans, he was coming along nicely in 2014 and was a bright spot in a pants year. He would have been a nice addition. Now been usurped by George King.
