Quote: lefty goldblatt "Unsung hero of the night for me, though, was Kevin Penny. Whenever we scored in the first half, Cas would aim the restart at Kev. The cheeky metres he made from leg drive alone, always built a platform for a great set of six. He must've "pinched" 100m from this, throughout the match. Well done.'"
Was thinking about Penny while watching the game last night. His leg drive and technique driving the ball in now is fantastic. I can't remember the last time he got pushed backwards. He is also doing more work in the pivot positions and really stepping up his responsibility levels. I think his understanding of the game is very well developed now.
Also watching Russell, it's amazing how much his game has come on from last year. He can now pass the ball backwards and to his own players. I thought he was very one dimensional last year and didn't see him kicking on. I thought Johnson looked streets ahead of him last season in the few first team games he played but Russell fully deserves his place this season adding some really good passes to his great scoots. Great what a little competition for places can do along with some hard work in the off season.
