Quote: rubber duckie "No apology required. I didn't take offence.
I don't know when Zingari were formed and I don't think we were formed from them either.
I'm pretty sure around the 76 period the team as we know it Warrington were formed from an amalgamation of 3 clubs, Zingari being one of them.
I think the home games were played on a field near Sankey Street before moving to Wilderspool.'"
I wasn't apologising for risk I'd caused offense, it was because my error could cause confusion.
It's not a case of whether we were formed from Zingari, we ARE Zingari. The club dropped the appendix in 1877, and from then on was known as Warrington Football Club. Other clubs joined forces at later dates, providing personnel, officials, and no doubt other inputs (fans, money, possibly kit and influencing ground moves), but the name remained, and the club can trace its origins back to the meeting in 1876 when Zingari were formed.
I really hope there's a strong heritage section on the club site when it's launched next week. I'll be reviewing thoroughly and feeding back my comments on here and to the club if required once I've digested it.
