Rhys can't get in the 19 because he's only had one run out since February! I think one or two people are getting well ahead of themselves. If Eastmond gets in the final England squad then there's no way he'll commit to us this side of Christmas, if ever. Mind you, I wouldn't be at all surprised if you're right about Simon Grix. He's had a terrible time with injury. Terrible shame if it turns out to be right because he's a real asset in so many positions.

That is fair enough as a viewpoint and I don't have any problem with it. I think the point I wanted to make is that if he comes back to RL it would be very much of his own volition rather than because he is not valued in RU. In fact, the more I think about this the more surprised I would be if it happens; if he is not a marguee signing then I suspect the amount he would be on compared to what he could earn at Bath or in particular playing RU in France would be quite a step down.

Surely the Cronk rumour has been put to bed ,though a bigger Aussie signing than Sandow at half back leads to very few names and as far as I can see none are available

The thing about the Cronk thing that makes me laugh about a few Saints fans who've 'mocked' is over it is that Melbourne and Cronk's agent both said Wire and Leeds did enquire about signing Cronk. It wasn't a rumour.

Aussie press has named Aus$450,000 per season as Sandow's pay. That's almost £210,000. In which case there is no way he is anything but our 'marquee' signing. It's uninmaginable that we could pay an even higher wage to another player, as it would leave less than £1.4m for the whole of the rest of the squad. Remember also that Gidley is an 'organising hafl-back', so where do we have room for yet another half-back?
