Quote: Paul Youane "Why would Draper be involved in player recruitment? He has taken over from Gatcliffe and is running the business side of the club.
I'd imagine that approaches are made via agents/managers to Moran, or the other way around, about availability of players and Smith then gets the say on which players we pursue. I cannot envisage any environment where Smith doesn't have the final say on players or where Draper is involved in player recruitment.
Sandow will have been the one that landed due to whatever circumstances but I'm sure that we have made approaches to sign at least two British half-backs and three or four from down-under in addition to Sandow.'"
I don't think for one second TS didn't play a part in the capture of Sandow, but the signal he sent out I from his radio interview was placid. By the distance and agents involved with the signing I would say SJM was more driven and his involvement and was far more significant to getting the man.
As for Sandow putting it down to TS in "part" every beauty queen comes out with the wants to save the starving children line.
