Quote: Jimathay "Myler has a sharp management team. After his kicking antics "going viral", his stock is currently pretty high. It makes perfect sense for him/his people to cash in on the buzz, to either get an improved deal at Wire, or a better deal elsewhere.
Because of this I would take these rumors with a pinch of salt, however looking at the possible makeup of our team next season, it does look like there will be a squeeze in the halves, and something's got to give somewhere.
I think we all agree we need a new HB, as the various combos this season haven't really fired. Gidley will play there as it stands. If the Sandow rumor is true, he'll play in the halves, with Gidley filling in at 9. I can't see us using both together in the halves.
Either way this leaves space for 1 starting half from the number we have already.
Ratch is a difficult one because he's still not held down a permanent position, however he was given the number 6 jersey for a reason, and has said in interviews he wants to play in the halves. While I personally prefer him at FB, it was telling that Russell came straight back into FB, with Ratch being shunted into Centre.
I would expect our HB paring to be Ratch and Gidley/Sandow.
I thought the writing was on the wall for GOB earlier on in the season, but Smith has put him back into the team. He's still only 23. I'd expect he stays as backup in the halves, with Patton, 20, going out on loan to get game time.
So back on topic, as much as I like him, it does look like there could be legs in the Myler rumors.'"
Gidley at 9? No.
