The one home game is likely to cost 3000 paying spectators, not 5000
And your calculation make no allowance for the fact that some of those "missing fans" will be kids/OAPs/students etc.
Now, those figures are purely gate receipts, NOT the amount that the club actually makes from the game. lets say we go with 5000 x £20 = £100k. Take out of that the cost of opening the stadium, the cost of staffing the game, Maybe the cost of policing the game (minimum £6000).
In a nutshell, finishing in the lower half of the top 8 will NOT cost £1/4m
