Quote: BuckleyStreetWire "This was a pertinent bit as well; "Even today the speed and quality of pass and the ability to simply but so effectively time their running lines from deep always stands out to me. They are still ahead of union."
Now this is something we all know. However, usually, union people never speak of league, never mind compliment us.'"
Maybe in the more obnoxious elements of the media they won't compliment league but within the game itself eg coaches, league is very well respected amongst union circles. Clive Woodward was a pro-league man and so is Stuart Lancaster the current England coach.
The downside for league is that these types of people in union are also very keen on poaching league players.
Stuart Lancaster did a good interview with the BBC a few months back where he was talking about the NRL and said he is an admirer there not only of the technical ability of the play there but also the humility of the culture amongst the players.
