The benefit dinner for our illustrious former captain goes ahead on Monday 29th. September as planned, following communication overnight from Greg's wife Amanda and the family that they wished for the event to proceed, because it is what they knew Greg would have wanted.
The decision to proceed was not taken lightly, as we were all deeply stunned by the sad news that came out from Australia yesterday morning. but the views of the family were paramount and, combined with the goundswell of opinion from Greg's closest friends in Warrington and those involved with the evening as participants and guests, enabled us the come to this decision.
Parts of the evening will be necessarily more sombre than we had originally intended and there are bound to be some moments of emotion, but that is only to be expected in the circumstances.
I still have 9 places available for the evening so, bearing in mind all the kind things which have said about Greg on this site over the past 24 hours, if anybody would still like to attend, please ring me on 07504 597835 or e-mail me at richard.shanks54@gmail.com. |
