its a shame alot of your fans are looking upon the game like that... im sure your players wont.... this is the only trophy they havent won... im expecting a full blooded all out display from your side tomorrow... should be a cracking game.'"
I think a lot has to do with the differing success each of our teams have enjoyed in the two different main competitions (think some of Wire fans feelings towards the GF have differed from the CC in the last two years). But whereas past failure has turned some Leeds fans off the CC it has only made me more eager that we win it. Had we won it 4/5 years ago it would've been great obviously as any trophy would.....but now after the continuous disappointment it would make finally getting our hands on the 'missing piece' that much more sweeter.
I think I'm just in he rarity that will admit I want us to win it badly, more so than the GF at this point in this particular squads career. Think some try and downplay so that it doesn't disappoint them so badly if we lose again (and opposition fans can't mock as much if you downplay it kinda thing), personally I'm not afraid to have hope and show it even if the end result doesn't turn out positive.
Like you point out it's the only trophy we haven't won and I think that has had a tremendous effect on our regular season for the last 4 years or so. As soon as we knocked out Saints in Round 5 and were given a draw the next day of Leigh (thus virtually guaranteeing us a Semi Final, even though we made hard work of it) then we've switched off and not been the same. Whereas in 2010 & 2011 when the team openly talked about how much this competition meant to them they've tried to keep a quieter counsel on it the last two campaigns but reality is that the hunger will have grown which each passing year.
For any Leeds fan who says they don't care about the CC it is a slap in the face of the likes of Sinfield, Burrow, McGuire and Peacock who've given them so much more than they could've expected 11 years ago. If it means the world to those guys who have given us so many great memories, then by respect and tribute we all should put our hearts into too, not shy away because of past failures.
