From Park Lane(East side of Hyde Park) catch bus route 10 or 73 and get off at The Goodge Street station or Warren Street station stops on Tottenham Court Road. 5 minute walk.
Another option is walk to Green Park Station and get the Victoria line to Warren Street.

Thanks for the help fella's. In the end I watched the 3rd place play off game. what persuaded me in the end was stella in the Imperial college bar at £3.42 a pint, pretty good for London.
