Just to finish this one off from me, I've just been sent the following from Neil at Warrington:
The match you mention was a 32-19 loss to Wigan in Dublin on 12 May 1934, as far as we are aware it was the club's first visit to Ireland. The 1954 team also went to Ireland and lost matches to Halifax in Belfast and Dublin.

Bill's debut was on 18 April 1930 (Good Friday) against Widnes at Wilderspool, the match ended in an 11-11 draw. Warrington played 4 matches in five days over that Easter period and Bill was one of only 16 players used. 10 players played in all four matches.
In 1930/1 Bill made 5 successive appearances at prop in the first month of the season. The last being a 0-0 draw at Bramley.
In 1931/2 Bill made all of his 9 appearances before Christmas, including one in the second row at Batley.
In 1934/5 one of Bill's appearances was as hooker, the rest at prop.
In 1935/6 all of his appearances were at prop, he kicked his first goal at Hull on 23/11/35, one more goal against Steatham and Mitcham and four against Castleford.
1936/7 was his best being a regular at prop alongside Jack "Cod" Miller, with Dave Cotton at hooker. He scored his only try in a 13-5 win at Oldham. Warrington finished the season in 2nd place in the league, equalling their highest placed finish at that point. Warrington reached the Championship final only to lose to Salford 11-13.
The following season Bill played in the first match of the season, a 25-5 win at Oldham on 28 August 1937, before he was transferred to Rochdale.
When not in the first team Bill was a regular in the "A" team that played in the Lancashire Senior Competition. in 1928/9 Warrington finished top of the league and won the Championship Final by beating Swinton 5-0, Bill played at prop..
In 1932/3 season Bill scored 100 points for the "A" team scoring 4 tries and kicking 44 goals.
Not a prolific scorer, but I'm proud of him anyway
