Quote: ninearches "May be RL has reached the stage that people were clamouring for a couple of years ago.....a more even spread of talent throughout the clubs & any club being able to beat any other.
A couple of matters seem to be affecting the transition though ,namely the lack of suitable skilled homegrown talent ,which may have been affected by watering down the junior teams to bring about dual registration with partner clubs & the lack of any reasonably priced quality NRL rejects being available.'"
An astute observation. Savvy clubs like Wigan and Leeds saw this coming and invested in the best youth talent. We did as well but, I would argue, not with the dame success. Wigan are producing so much talent that they can afford to offload some and still stay at the top. It appears that the strategy has changed from buying talent from all over the world to cornering the market in home produced talent such as it is.
