| It's open, and it's ace. We need to promote this place across the RL community.

| Quote: Ganson's Optician "A few years ago I would have gone out and had 10+ pints of whatever was the cheapest thing on offer, acted like a bit of a nob then woke up the following morning with a banging head and £50 lighter not remembering a thing. These days on a Friday night I would rather just have four or five pints of something nice.
Don't get me wrong I still have my binge days (tomorrow will no doubt be one) and drink more than most, but if I was going out to get "sozzled" I would head to a different type of place. Last night I went into the rum bar next door which wasn't particularly cheap but it was nice to have a few beers in nice surroundings/company.'"
i myself dont go out to get sozzled but draw the line at paying well over inflated prices..if thats your choice of pub/bar then fine..without picking holes in your argument if you were 50 notes lighter after a 10+ pint binge then you are paying what your paying now in this new bar...but thanks for a decent reply unlike some on here

If you go out drinking all afternoon, end up in some dive on Bridge Street then get a taxi home you will easily spend £50.
If we were on about paying £4 for Carling you would have a perfectly valid point but we aren't. Head round the corner to the Lounge on Springfield Street you will pay £5+ for some beers as they are rare and have been bought in. FWIW I don't really drink lager so have been enjoying cask ale in this new place for circa £2.50. But for example, since going to Kenya in 2010 I have been trying to get my hands on Tusker lager. If I could find somewhere selling it I would happily hand over a hand full of coins!

| I think some of us are forgetting the point of this place.
IT'S A REAL ALE BAR. At £2.50 a pint, in a town centre, in 2014, you are literally STEALING money off them, comparing the price you pay for beer in other parts of town.
It's selling lager at £4.20 a pint is making a statement......We don't want lager drinkers custom, please stay away from our place. To be fair to 9Gallon, would they want the stereotypical Warrington lager drinker in your place on a Saturday night, generally making a "plonker" of himself, and weeing off the rest of the clientele. No they wouldn't.
My only whinge is the price of the wine. ATEOTD, I'm just not going to convert Mrs Goldblatt to the delights of real ale, so I HAD too bite the bullet, and pay over the odds for a drink for her.
To be fair to Wetherspoon's, it serves it's purpose. Cheap ale, that's ggenerallyy drinkable. I just wish the cellar people/bar staff would learn how to keep/serve a decent pint. It's always flat as a witches breast in Friar Penketh. A previous poster is correct about the barflies. I just tend to go to the other end of the pub.

| The beer at £4.20 is from New York so I'd expect it to be dearer, not all of the choices are that dear of course. When you compare it to the £3.60 Warrington charge for Carlsberg and Tetley's (both brewed in the UK, and on a mass scale) it's not that bad.
