| Not for the first time I'm pretty sure I watched a different game to some of you lads. Mick Monas and Myler had a poor game, panicky and no game plan on display from the halves but as for some of the other players being vilified, I just don't see it.
Waterhouse put in a shift, defensively he looked strong and was turning in the tackle for an offload that wasn't being supported - which I can forgive in the first game of the season, but we've got to be getting runners off him. Benny was his usual self, but too keen to do everything himself rather than bossing our players. I like the look of Asotasi; he's not settled into the side but he made yards, looked for the offload and but the effort in.
Our lack of a game plan was what did us last night and that's from the halves. No one was calling the plays and without a kicking game it was 5 runs and hope. So yes it was a let down, but let's not have hysterical over reactions about players being crap/past it/drop TS just yet. If we're still playing like this after 10 rounds, then panic.

What we are missing is IMO Myler playing of the shoulder of the lads making the hard yards who are trying to offload. Gaz O'Brien is well overdue a run in this team to see what he can do as the playmaker/general.
Myler needs to continue to play on the shoulder, looking for offloads and allow Gaz to take on in-play kicking duties and organising the attacking plays
On a positive note we appear to have options in nearly every position, which I think will all be given a chance early on this season. Looking forward to seing Kev Penny back and given a run
Roll on Leeds Friday night.

| Whose shoulder is Myler playing off if there is no penetration in the forwards? There'll be more penetration on b-wing in Strangeways tonight then there was from our forwards last night.

I know that it's heresy, but, I've never taken to Waterhouse and was taken to task for comments made on here and back tracked when I watched his performances in particular and he had a run of decent games for us.
Unfortunately an all too short run IMO It all got a bit too technical for me, "look at the edge defending here an offload/run to creatre a gap there for his centre" all subtle stuff. What isn't subtle is the fact that he looks knackered from Minute 1 and as senior guy that's been here long enough I don't think he contributes enough either on the subtle play front, the barnstorming front and fronts in between.
I await the, "are you watching the same game/you now newt" comments but sadly and it gives me no sense of joy my expectations have not been met

I was just about to say a similar thing. Waterhouse has been outstanding in certain games while playing in the P&B (2012 playoff eliminator against saints to name one off the top of my head) but his contribution over the season doesn't stand out as much as Westwood, Grix and other 2nd rowers in the team.

| Yep lacked leadership, Myler was doing a lot of tackling as they attacked our left flank alot, Atkins had to be the worst one out there last night. His positioning is woeful and leaves riley to cover 2 players what he cant do.
Briers wouldve strugged yesterday behind that pack, why dont we use briers as a water carrier and organise us a bit? Only worrying thing is, that there was no communication last night. Do we even train on set moves or attacking play in the week? as we looked clueless on the 5th tackle.
