| My local used to have guest *real* beers and most of them tasted like cough mixture.

| I don't know how anybody can drink the lager that is sold in Britain......it is all p*** wind....i will drink lager abroad but the cheapest local stuff that goes down ok & doesn't give me any side effects. Over here though you can't beat a good bitter ....i used to drink mild but that is hard to find these days.

I'd been thinking the same but I didn't want to jinx it. Can add the Quarter bar to the others mentioned.

That's the one, couldn't remember the name when I posted yesterday. Went past the real ale place on the bus this morning, doesn't look far off being ready. As an aside, when you have a proper look the buildings on Sankey Street are brilliant!

When available I have real ale, bitter and sometimes Guinness as lager is too gassy. Thankfully real ale has become more popular so there's more choices and availability.
Coach House Brewery in Warrington www.coach-house-brewing.co.uk produces some great ale, and their fruit and spice range of beers certainly don't smell like feet.
I hope this new bar does very well, I'm looking forward to them opening.

| Rarely drink lager nowadays, tend to stick to cider or whiskey.
Saying that, I rarely drink anyway. Not touched a drop since New Years Eve and I've not missed it one bit.

| They're looking to open 14/02/2014. The delay in opening down to issues beyond their control (brewery not installing all the pumps on dates promised etc). From speaking to one of the fellas who owns it they're looking at doing lots of varieties of real ale (potentially up to 14 lines) and some decent high end whiskey's too.
