Stunned doesn't even come close, I was in the shop at about the time this was announced buying the home shirt, don't think anyone in the shop was awrae or just not saying anything
Quote: St pete " Lee Briers IMO is the last of a dying breed of halfbacks. He's was old school, very clever and cheeky.
Totally agree. Superb player with vision and a real rugby brain. Also, a real larrakin who could have you bent double with laughter.
I remember when him and Nat Wood tried to outdo eachother. (if memory serves....) Briers ran into the crowd after scoring a try, sat down and applauded himself. Wood responded by running down the tunnel after a try and reappearing up the tunnel at the opposite side of the ground....top class .
A great player and character. Gonna be tough for you guys to replace!
One of the last genuine halves. Rhythm and tempo play a big role in games, and very few can control that. Lee was one who could. Always looked like he had time and room. Fantastic player, servant and ambassador for Warrington and Wales alike. I'm sure he will continue to provide entertainment for the game as a coach.
Glad but GUTTED Lee retired...he's been a. constant thorn in the side of my team over the years...A GREAT ambassador for his club and RL.....all the very Lee......
