| In McNamara's defence how many times did he have to tell the press that he just wanted to talk about the game!

| He could have either replied something like "I've answered that question" instead he's made a big rod for his own back as if we get beat the press ( What little coverage we get) will slate him.

| Don't rate him but put that aside, Hock, Hardacker, McIllorum and Graham have let him down big tine, this is all their doing, any bad press and drubbing we may receive, all this farce of a build up is now on their shoulders, funnily enough because they couldn't use what was originally above their shoulders.
I actually feel for McNamara now, he's been badly let down and all the effort England RL and himself have put in over the last few months has been thrown away all because some players HAD to have alcohol, what is this country coming to?

| Its fair enough for McNamara to walk out of the press conference: when he's clearly said he will talk about the game but isn't willing to answer questions about disciplinary issues that should be kept in house, those journalists just spoiled it by asking the same questions.
Were those journalists actually interested in the England v Australia game or did they just want to write a story "England in crisis" "disciplinary shame of England's rugby league players"? They were looking for negative stuff to write about the world cup, the fact the great Australian team are over here and England is hosting a world cup and this could be a historic match didn't matter to them, they just wanted to be negative about it.
McNamara isn't unusual in walking out in those circumstances. What do you think Sir Alex Ferguson would have done? He would have told them once that certain questions were off limits and then he would have walked out. I remember a couple of years ago before a champions league game when that Ryan Giggs injunction case was going on, the United press officer said SAF wouldn't be able to answer questions on Ryan Giggs and some smartbooty puts his hand up and says "how important is Ryan Giggs to Manchester United?". Fergie got the journalist banned from Old Trafford.

| The coach should have either respect or fear from his players preferably both. McNamara has neither. I remember when AJ Murphy was coaching at Wigan he offered to settle any disputes with the players man to man at the back of the stand...None of them took him up on the offer because they feared him but they respected him too. I'm not saying the players didn't drink in those days but then the game was semi-pro. The modern player is full time professional and reasonably well paid...It's not asking too much for them to abstain for a month is it ?

| Who gives a monkeys as to what Ferguson would have done? This is McNamara who walked out and he was being asked questions about a discipline matter that had been dealt with. It should have been the responsibility of the England press officer to explain that they England manager will only take questions regarding...
