| I think Cat is right, it will be Asotasi. Monas has only a year left, and could easily be sidelined with his knees. With Asotasi we have the prospect of a bit more continuity, as well as the track record of doing the job at the highest level. I also wonder if making him captain may bring a lot more out of the guy in terms of his own performances.
Longer term (5 years) my pound would go on Currie.

Chaz, I'd have to agree with your short term analysis and you got to think that the captaincy was a key factor in smith's recruitment policy. Grix is a good player, is he that vocal I understand you can lead by example?
Who knows what the future holds? Currie certainly has the potential to be a top, top player, I just hope that we keep hold of him.

| Lets choose a Captain who will be there for a good few years, Myler or Currie sound perfect for that. When Morley came he would have been perfect as all the player s would know and respect him, i'm not sure this would be the case with Asotasi.

Sorry Snaggletooth, but, I think that your statement is a bit contradictory. When Morley came, yes he had the reputation, was made for the job and didn't have any explaining to do with other senior pro's at the club. However, I think we were a bit lucky to have got as many great seasons from him that we did. I anticipated a year shorter at the top than he managed and I'm grateful.
Myler at a push for next year, but, Currie is definately one for the future. He has plenty of time to develope into the Captaincy role, if he has 3 or 4 great years in the starting 17 and gets an international call up he will still be in his early 20's and could be peerless.
I hope Asotasi is cut from a similar cloth to Morley and in that time your selections should be fully seasoned front runners at the moment I think they are a tad underdone

| I don't see a natural leader in the current squad other than Briers or M Monaghan. For me it's about next season and who is the best man to drive them on to achieve success next year. Monas for me

| I think this one is hard to call and we supporters can't really judge who is the natural leader within the club. I'd be surprised if it's not one of our older players for the year. Michael Monaghan, Briers, Asotasi or Waterhouse for me.

| Didn't Ben Harrison used to be the captain of the England youth team?

| Quote rubber duckie="rubber duckie"Morley was an unlikely captain and proved to be a great one.
So how about Ben Westwood?
Like Morley before him, a unexplainable decision, but could it work?'"
Why was Morley an 'unlikely' captain??.....Seemed a pretty obvious one if you ask me - Highly respected by his team mates, also an intelligent bloke, who was respected by most in the game.
As for Westwood? - I can't see it, mainly on the fact that he doesn't seem the greatest communicator (being blunt, he doesn't sound the brightest!!).
A good outside bet, especially if he has a strong World Cup, might be Chris Hill.... He's probably now our number one prop forward and a good World Cup would help to build his reputation among his peers.

Morley definitely was the obvious option, massive amounts of experience through international and domestic games and shown great character in the NRL. Would love to see Hill as captain, he's had one hell of a year and continues to grow in confidence, something everyone can respect.
If I had to put my mortgage on it though i'd say Asotasi
