I think the last player we had that had played in positions across the park like this was Paul Darbyshire.
I think the first game I saw Paul play was a Lancs cup QF midweek game and he was playing full back. I am pretty sure he played a decent number of games at Centre and Stand Off, He may have played Scrum Half and Wing at some point but then ended up in the pack playing Second Row / Loose Forward.
We have had a number of players that have flirted between threequarters and back rowers (Cullen, Mercer, Domic, Burns) but not many that have also played in the 6,7 and 9 like Grix and probably Darbyshire have.
I like Simon Grix. He is not the most spectacular player (His try against Leeds was special) but almost everything he does is executed very well.
Too often fans look for that bit of brilliance thinking that is what makes a brilliant player but players that just do the simple things really well can often go unappreciated by the masses.
