| Great player with an amazing sidestep which he displayed once or twice in the 1974 cup final. We used to reckon his technique was to swing his ( not inconsiderable ) ale gut in one direction and then dart off in the other. Fooled 'em every time. A sad loss so young and it was a nice coincidence that we'd been discussing the Fev final just this last week. R.I.P.

| A great player from a different era. A childhood hero of mine.
The 1974 team was outstanding and won virtually everything they played in.

| Chissy scored best try I ever saw. It was in his final season 81-82 v's Bradford northern. I was ball boy that day and in privileged position to run the touchline following chissy as he set off from the Fletcher end 20. He ran a 3/4 line up along the snookers club stand. He delivered an outrageous dummie kick that a defender took, so he broke to the halfway line, where he did the same dummy kick again, the fullback took it.
chissy then with the line broke, headed straight towards the railway end tryline. The fullback turned and gave chase.
The fb finally caught him and tackled him around the legs. Chissy just had enough pace to make it to the line and get the ball down. What a try! Only the fullback, the ref, roger o'mahoney and Myself as the ball boy kept up with him.
There is a picture on the wall, within the stands the hj, where he is getting back up to his feet after scoring that try, you can see the fullback on the floor and roger o'mahoney celebrating chissys try.
That try will forever stay in my thoughts. I was also privileged to tell the great man everytime i met him, that. I remembered that try and it was the best i ever saw. He was always so humbled by that.
