| Quote Thelonius="Thelonius"Best/Worst bit of commentry for me was when they harked back to McDermotts comment on Friday about referees letting play go on. The incident in last nights game was when Thaler blew up because Saints players where 2 or 3 metres offside - he can't just allow play to continue because Sky Pundits and Coaches want to know how a set concludes.'"
Was that when Clarke came up with the comment along the lines of "he's lost it" or something. Basically saying that the ref made the call because things were getting carried away, rather than make the call because there was a call to be made.

I think he said something like "oh he's panicked there". No Phil, McCarthy-Scarsbrook and Perry actually aren't the speed of Usain Bolt so they weren't back the 10.

| Lovely how the Sky numpties kept bleating on and on and on and on (for 2 minutes afterwards) about Atkins 'crossing' that didn't actually stop Lomax getting to Waterhouse ..... but not a single peep or dickie about the incident in the first half when Myler broke away, and Atkins who was following up, was shoved from the field of play by the retreating Saints players to prevent him running in a quick play of the ball ........ or was that within the spirit of the game?

| Quote lefty goldblatt="lefty goldblatt"I'd rather listen to my alarm clock going off at 5:30 after 8 pints of Guinness, than listen to Laurel and Hardy (Hunt and Dearden). That Thursday program is awful, but surprise, surprise, Radio Manchester are still prefering Wigan. It's like going back 20 years to the total impartiallity of "Me, Rodney May", who wouldn't dream of favouring Wigan.'"
I'm glad that there is someone other than me who doesn't like Dearden. In fact, I actually really dislike him and can't stand him. He get's in places that polyfiller couldn't. He is like the BBC Manchester version of John Inverdale/Alan Green on 5 Live, he's gets everywhere. Commentating on Super League games, commentating on football, commentating on Championship matches. Rarely lets his co-commentator get a word in edgeways, rarely agrees with callers into the Sunday afternoon show, defends everyone from coaches, to referees, to touch judges.

| And I find it quite hilarious that fans of other teams seem to believe that Eddie Hemmings is a Warrington fan, when he obviously has St Helens bias. After what he was saying after the Leeds win about it "having to be a Saints v Leeds final", it just confirms it!

Oh Dearden and Hunt. Dreadful x2
They'll do ANYTHING, bar commentate on the game in front of him. Still, it's better than listening to that Lovett clown on Wire FM

| The most entertaining radio commentary I've heard in quite some time was on Radio Humberside ... the Hull KR / St Helens time keeping controversy was quite something to listen to, one guy in particular was absolutely spitting chips about it and came within a gnat's whisker of accusing the time keepers of deliberately running the game on too long to allow saints the opportunity to nick the draw at the end. Priceless.

Those buffoons on Humberside are so biased, they make Dearden/Hunt/Kinsella's love of Wigan seem small fry

I gave up listening to Humberside because of that. Compared to them Jack and Trevor are a breath of fresh air.

I noticed at the time that it was all a bit downbeat considering the magnitude of the occasion.
I have just watched it again after reading the original post and it really is unbelievable. If the presenters' job is to sell the game and give an unbiased opinion then they are failing miserably. We all know it so why can't the powers that be see it and do something? Stevo looked like he just didn't want to be there and the only sign of genuine enthusiasm was from Phil Clarke when talking about how close/unlucky Saints were. Impartial? Yeah ok
They lost mate, just like Wigan, end of! Get over it.
