has moving to a new stadium changed the atmosphere for fans?
Have you noticed a difference when travelling to new away grounds?

Quote: lefty goldblatt "Pretty much what Biscuit has said, but, I still hanker for the days of Wilderspool.
THAT noise from the Fletcher
How the team ALWAYS raised their game in the first 10 minutes of the second half, had we been losing at half-time, under Tony Barrow (again, THAT noise)
Changing ends at half-time
People actually watching the game
Walking down Fletcher Street alwats had a "buzz" to it.

I don't miss paddling through 4 fathoms of gypsy's kiss, should I wish to "pay a vist", though.'"

icon_biggrin.gifROOL: Drool. I did'nt even mind the gypsy's bit. It's become sanitised and dull despite it all. icon_hearteyes.gif

+1

Also, the smell of lineament when changing ends down the stand side. Steam rising when the packs formed the scrum. The shear intensity of the Fletcher End, when the opposition were getting on top.

All that said, I wouldn't want to go back to Wilderspool. Watching the U20s games makes you realise how tired it was.

I sense that for me it might be a bit different from most people on here because I go back a long way and have been living away from Warrington for 45 years. It’s different from much of football because there isn’t the hatred between fans. Perhaps we see ourselves primarily as R.L. fans. Paradoxically when Warrington played Wigan (for example) at Wilderspool you got the feeling that it really was the towns playing each other.
I wish it wasn’t called the Halliwell Jones stadium and that it had a bit more character but I agree that it is well placed. I’ve got some great photos of Wilderspool which I took including one of a deserted, depressing exterior (not match day) with the sign ‘Welcome to Warrington’s Premiere Entertainment Centre’ on the wall. I might photoshop a stray dog on there to complete the picture. Makes me homesick.

Yes, smell of embrocation as they ran out to 'March of the Gladiators'.

These new stadiums aint too bad. Its a shame that they employ knuckle draggers as "bouncers" offering the crowd out
