Quote PADDERS="PADDERS"How can Hodgeson losing the ball backwards be a knock on and TBF Leuluai knocked it out and it went forwards off him Delaney was offside so it's a no brainer penalty for offside or reaping the ball in a two man tackle ! Which ever way u look at it , it wasn't a Leeds scrum !'"
It was the correct decision....Hodgson lost the ball during the impact of the challenge, it was not a steal. The laws of the game state it is upto the ball carrier to carry the ball securely into the tackle, Hodgson didn't....Leuluai did knock on once the ball was loose, so the offside didn't even come into it.
I suppose you could be ultra-picky and say Hodgson lost it backwards, meaning it should have been a Wire scrum, but to be fair, in a situation like that, a ball carrier losing the ball will more often than not be judged to have knocked on....Hodgson had his lights knocked out, so it wasn't really a knock on, more his unconscious body releasing the ball involuntarily.
