| Very good news this.
Generally agree with the comments on here.
Hodgson - 2 years - is a surprise, but we don't know the details. After Lee, he's probably got the best footballing brain in the squad.
Lee has 1 year, but I would fully expect him to get another at the end of next year if he plays like he has been.
Cooper maybe a little fortunate but I'm not close enough to know the thinking behind that.
Mickey Higham has really stepped up this year and I'm pleased for the guy.
One thing I don't agree with though is the thinking that Rhys, Lee M and others are finished at the club.
Unless I have misunderstood they've announced 10, that's not to say there won't be more.
I'd guess Big Dave will not get a new one considering his age and the development of others in the squad. It's a shame he had such a horrendous injury at the start of the year.
I think there will be more announcements in due course.
The main one I want is an extension for TS, but given the rapport between him and the board (and SM in particular) I am not over-worried.

If you were to win the double this season, it's quite possible that Smith would view that as job done, given his previous policy of not overstaying his usefulness at a club. I'd be surprised if there wasn't major interest in him from the NRL, I know he declared his love for England a few years back, has he dismissed the possibility of a return to Oz? I'd love to see him at Catalans to firmly stamp their mark as a top side, which would be great for Super League.

| I think he's more than happy at the moment - even if the daily commute from Huddersfield can be a drag.
He's got UK citizenship (I think) and has no plans to go back to Oz.
Not thinking of getting rid of Brown before he's begun are you?

You know what, if I'd been McManus, I would have been in there like a shot. Me thinks Brown will be out 3/4 of the way through next season once he starts linking himself with NRL positions in the press. That's if he comes back from his holiday in Australia and actually starts the job. It's not a job I'd want at the moment personally, it's an enormous task.

I think he has school age children here in the UK and it is a massive wrench for any child to move schools let alone move school to another country.
I think TS may well give thought to Catalans in the future but currently the same reasons that would make a move to Australia difficult apply to France.

| Quote Thelonius="Thelonius"As per usual when it comes to contracts, none of us know any of the details. Two more years for Hodgson on top dollar wages would, IMO, be a mistake, two more years on a lower salary considering his age and anticipated appearances could be a great bit of business.
Similarly with players who are 'let go'. It could be because they're simply not good enough, or it could be that they over-value themselves and choose to go elsewhere for more than we are willing or able to pay.'"
interesting point. if, as has been mooted the more experienced players are also involved in coaching roles of some description, how does this affect the salary cap question. coaching 40% of pay, playing 60% of pay. could be an interesting concept in circumnavigationg restrictions....

100% of their wages count .
Andy last at hull came out of retirement during their injury crisis* a while ago, his entire coaching salary counted
*can we actually refer to hull has having an injury crisis? it seems to have been going on for 6/7 years now.
