I'll be watching as much as I can get away with, love it and the more you get to know about each sport/rules/background/history/competitors etc the more interesting and absorbing it gets (IMO)
These people train as hard, if not harder than any pro and in the UK where funding has basically been dropped regardless of it being held here, makes for a fair few interesting stories to say the least.
Obvious fave's - beach volleyball, Jessie Ennis, GB's chances in the combat stuff, Bolt and the rest of the Jamaican team plus some weird interest in dressage icon_confused.gif Oh and the gymnastics is outstanding once you know how the scoring system works (it's absolutely not subjective as a previous post claims)
Bring on the games k020.gif

Yeah, must admit to filling up every time I hear sycophantic Coe aswell.

Another part of the great lie machine. Opening bid ( beating Paris btw) of £2.8 billion, current running cost of £9.2 billion.( oops, forgetting to add VAT to the opening bid).

those who pay tax and poll/council tax will be paying for that. Greece was the pointer, the UK will go the same way.

Fair play to the Olympians who took part, it's not their fault, but how many hospitals, medicines and forigein (sic) aid will this actually cost in the long run?'"

If they took £5 a month from my paypacket for the next year as a charge for the Olympics, I'd consider it a bargain given the entertainment and feel-good factor of the last fortnight.

A mate of mine txt me on Thursday saying that he was in the Stadium when the 800 metres record was broken and he was just waiting for the 200 metre final. It was all corporate (the company I retired from four yeas ago) of course as they had taken clients. Lucky barsteward.

Last night he txt to say he was outside the stadium listening to The Who and Take That doing their sound checks. icon_cool.gif

The answer is : none. The money would NEVER have been channeled into general good causes, and you're deluded if you think it would have been. These Olympics have been a sensational advert for GB, which will pay off in billions extra in tourism revenue over the next ten years. Even without that, the national solidarity which has emerged amongst this country's citizens is worth the cost on its own.

Be miserable if you insist, but keep it to yourself as the rest of us are a tad more positive. Jeez, you do a good impression of a Pie board moderator.

It really is too early to say what the legacy of these games will be. We may all feel warm and fuzzy now but we are in the middle of a double dip recession with unemployment and under employment in key areas stagnating... we'll see if that warmth can last another 3 months.

The cost isn't too huge, considering our debts, and I'm sure if many people who should pay tax and don't would (Vodaphone, Google, Philip Green etc) we'd be in a better position.

We certainly can't deny that the games have been a success, and so it can't be designated a 'waste of money'. Plus, there may be a sudden, temporary uptake in kids participating in sport. However, let's just give it time. Rome wasn't built in a day, a Grand final isn't won in May and a Britain's morale isn't saved in a fortnight.

Quote: Asgardian13 "The answer is

bang on...Seeing the Union Jack waved by all and sundry has been a brilliant sight. so much better than seeing the cross of st george hanging out of council house windows every two years. And the red tops thinking the whole country is behind the nations soccer team.

the games has shown that we are a fantastic sporting nation and hopefully it has opened a lot of peoples eyes up to the fact that there are many alternatives to that sport that gets rammed down our throats every week.

I have been blown away by the games and at first I was very much a sceptic.

The Games had everything that football can never be. True winners true champions, unassuming grafters, and sportsman and women with dignity.
The only bit of football type behaviour I saw was from the italian superheavy weight who took defeat to Anthony Joshua like a big a big fat Italian Fairy.

I cant see any negatives from the games at all.
