Quote: sally cinnamon "This is unfortunately the problem when people call for reductions in overseas players, give young players a chance etc. It sounds good and pc to call for it on internet forums and I know this forum is always going on about how our young upcoming talent is the best thing since sliced bread, we will be fine without Briers we don't need Chase because O'Brien and Myler are the future....we don't need Bateman because our young players are more than good enough on their own.
When you have guys like Evans, Dwyer, O'Brien, Blythe, Hill in the team it's just not good enough for a product like Super League if you want to keep fans turning up. Yeah fair enough in a pre season friendly but not Super League.
IMO it should be deregulated so there are no restrictions on overseas players and no salary cap, so teams can target the best players from anywhere in the world and make Super League a product the fans want to see. Let Rogues Gallery and Paul Youane follow the Academy if that's their hobby but most of us couldn't give a rats about academy players, unless they are genuine quality - like Bateman for instance, or Charnley at Wigan.'"
Would you say this if you did not have a chairman with deep pockets?...... To a point i do agree with you, but turkeys won't vote for Xmas.
