Last years quite freak result may still be fresh in your mind, but it was nothing more than anomaly. More than likely this year's champions will come from the top two placed teams once again.
I'n not for a minute suggesting you won't come second, because I think you will. I just don't like the fact that because of what happened last year, people automatically assume it will happen again and again. Because I don't believe it will, and history suggests it won't either.
Granted the new top eight system does IMO make it easier for lower placed sides to win it. But quality should shine through, as it did when Wigan won it from top spot under the 8 team play-off system in 2010.'"
I'd agree with most of this.
I would much rather see a return to top five play-offs under which first place received much more of a reward. The current structure makes the difference between coming first and second marginal with the potential for "club-call" working against the first place team by motivating their opposition.
Still don't think the race for the minor premiership is any where near over. A motivated Catalans team will be a difficult game for Wigan next week (I may pop down to The Stretton Fox to catch it on satelite tv) so it may still all come down to the Challenge Cup Final dress rehearsal in August.
