As an outsider looking in, I would have picked Atkins in the squad, but anybody bracketing him with Watkins is missing the point.
Watkins already looks the best centre the country has produced in a generation - he should be a shoo-in for year's to come.
It's Kris Welham, Zac Hardaker and, in particular, Kirk Yeaman who you should be concentrating on.
Yeaman just fell short in the Four Nations and, at the age of 28, is not going to improve - there is no conceivable reason why he should in the squad above Atkins!

You have to remember that, despite having commentated on the game for years, Hemmings still bases his assessment of players entirely on how many tries or goals they get. I remember him fainting over Steve Tyrer back in the day, Jamie Foster last season. |

but how many amongsts us can say they haven't had a big hard on for a young leeds hooker? Maybe on a stag night or just feeling lonely? |

Atkins was naff last night, I think he's one of the people who benefits more than others from the work of Hodgson in particular and Monaghan.
He had an off day, wow. He's not exactly turned into Michael Platt overnight.

TBH, I'm struggling to understand the panic of certain players rellying on other players. So what? Hodgeson, Monaghan and Solomona are influential players and when we have the team TS wants out there and everyone who should be selcted is fit and ready to play, we'll wipe the floor with everyone (including Leeds, Wigan and Saints) like we did last year.
