| I don't think either team showed their true potential on friday. Leeds edged an occasionally uninspiring game and that's about it in my opinion. Plus, you need to play to your best at Headingley. They're the world club champions and have turned a huge corner since this time last year.
However, its interesting to hear some people's opinions on our style of play. Personally I've always felt we should play to our strengths. The difference on friday was we were clumsy and sometimes made mistakes we generally wouldn't. It reminded me of the Wigan game at DW 2010 in the rain. It was complete suicide but the key component in our game these days is we defend a lot better. If most teams had turned the ball over against a team of Leeds' quality like we did on friday then I've no doubt the scoreline could and probably would have doubled in Leeds favour.
Plenty of spirit shown by the team, accompanied by some clumsiness admittedly. However, if in a couple of weeks we've ticked the box against Wigan and Saints then friday will just be viewed as what it was - a blip.

Even in a league competition, results don't matter too much come the end of the season. This isn't to say the game itself doesn't matter..'"
Of course they matter in a league competition......What about in 2008/9, when Hull City started off like a house on fire, then collasped like a stack of cards, surviving on the last day by the skin of their teeth??
In that case, those early season results were absolutely crucial to their whole season....In a play off system, defeats can be shrugged off a lot more as being a 'warm-up' for the actual competition in the last month of a campaign.
Sadly, most league games are now glorified pre-season friendlies.

You won the qualifying stage that decides who qualifies for the next stage of the tournament which decides the champions. You cant decide halfway through a competition that only the first part counts, im pretty sure Warrington knew the rules before the start. They knew they needed to do two things, to have the consistency to finish high up the league, and the quality and mentality to win when all the chips were in the pot.

Fairly sensible assessment. a 10% improvement from Wire and some of those offloads stick and we are looking at a win for Warrington, 10% better from Leeds and it could have been over as a contest after 20minutes.
I thought both teams defended pretty well, some big collisions and not a huge amount of dropping off in the tackle.
Both teams seem to have a similar mentality, good defence will win them most games (and lets be honest, Wire would have beaten most teams performing like they did on friday) and when the attacking game clicks they can be unplayable, but even when it doesnt the defence just needs to keep the score close enough because at some stage, whoever they are playing, they will have 10-20 minutes of ball and they only need a few of the offloads to stick to put points on any team.
I think both teams will be pretty happy defensively but simply more stuck for Leeds on this particular occasion.

I don't disagree.....But you are having a laugh if you say Leeds were a better side than Warrington last season.
You were the best side in the last month of the season, when we have the Cup competition that decides the champions....For the rest of the year, you were slightly better than poor....If that's how you decide a champion, then Rugby League, as a serious sport, has a big problem....As I have said earlier, Wigan have as much right to call themselves champions after beating 3 top sides to win the Challenge Cup.
If you are serious about the 27-match league being a qualifying comp for a 4 week Cup campaign, then you can safely say that the sport will slowly die as fans realise they are paying to watching 'sparring' over actual competitive sport.
