| Seem's St Helens fans are not happy with Warrington recieving 2 games in the RLWC2013 -
"viewtopic.php?f=18&t=514410"
Although "Saintsfan" makes some credible posts, and his points are also backed up - not bad for a Saints fan..
Overall I think Warrington deserve the 2 games - our club and council and people of the town have done everything they can to show support and get the games over here - its a fantastic reward!

| The council backed the bid and we got two games out of it, good bid, good result, end of story.

| I bet the crowds for these games are about half what would come to watch a Warrington match.
Still it is good to be able to say we have hosted international fixtures at a World Cup.

I think they have the potential to be well supported, the signs are already that the organisation of this World Cup is better than anything we have seen previously.
I'd expect some decent offers, and with the quality stadia being used, I'd hope for some good crowds.
Warrington should really be aiming to get 10k plus for whatever the group game is and a sellout for the qf. They should be realistic aims.

| What if the group game is USA vs Cook Islands?
Or Tonga vs Italy?
Or Fiji vs Ireland?
Over 10k would be a ridiculous target for any of the above, and indeed several other scheduled fixtures. Unless Australia, England or NZ are involved, an attendance of 5k would be a good turnout.

We shouldn't have a target of 5k, that is ridiculously low.
These games should still be looking to attract 10k, no matter how difficult that may be.
Fiji vs Ireland would be a very attractive fixture in my eyes.

Have you got 9999 mates?
10000 punters for those sort of games is never going to happen. Unless they give the tickets away. And even then I wouldn't guarantee it.
In the 2008 competition, only one game which didn't involve Aus, NZ or England managed a five figure crowd, and that was the Samoa Tonga match.
I won't mention the disaster of the 2000 tournament, except to point out that 3 of the 4 quarterfinals had the following crowds: 5404, 5158 & 5211. One of those games was in Widnes, and one in Castleford.

| I love the fact that they have the idea to take it around the country and out to France and Ireland too but big crowds are pipe dreams and perversely i feel a lack of vision would have made more money, i would class myself as an expansionist but the crowds will be minimal, it won't really connect with the British public so i don't even feel it will sell itself to new punters, tiny crowds in grounds it's never been in and a massive flop like last time. I don't mean to sound so miserable on it and I'd hope to God I'm wrong but the realist in me(rather than pessimist) can only see decent crowds for matches containing England/Oz/Kiwis and possibly Wales and France.
Playing the French games in Perpignan or Toulouse and the Welsh games in Wrexham and keeping the rest of the group games to a select few Northern grounds like Wire, Wigan and Saints on the West and Hudds, Hull FC and Leeds on the East would have been the money making option.
I mean games in Bristol would struggle to get a decent crowd if it was Saints v Wigan or Leeds v Bradford so games between tiny islands thousands of miles away are never going to sell.
